Sample Apps
Applications you can clone and deploy against the LocalStack Azure emulator. Each card links to the
source, which carries the README, the architecture diagram and everything needed to run the
sample.
Every sample provides a shell script that uses the Azure CLI to create the Azure resources and deploy the demo application. Where available, the sample also provides Bicep templates and Terraform modules that provision the same infrastructure, so you can choose whichever approach you prefer. Most samples add a second script that validates the deployment once it is running. Every deployment has been tested against Azure as well as against the local emulator.
Most samples ship in more than one language. Each language variant is a card of its own, tagged with the language it is written in, so the Language filter narrows the grid to the variants you can actually run.
They come from two repositories:
- localstack-azure-samples: App Service, Function App, Container Instances and data services, in Python, .NET and Java. All but one are deployed by the repository’s samples CI workflow, which covers 70 deployments across the Azure CLI, Bicep and Terraform and, on a pull request, runs the ones whose files changed. Those samples carry a CI verified badge.
- aks-samples: the same vacation-planner
application on an emulated AKS cluster against a range of backing stores, in Python and .NET. Each
one provides numbered shell scripts that create the backing service, build and push the container
image, and deploy the workload with
kubectl. They are run by hand, so treat them as demonstrations rather than continuously verified samples.

AKS: Vacation Planner on Azure Files (.NET)

The vacation-planner app on AKS storing each activity as a text file on an Azure Files share, mounted into every pod by the Azure Files CSI driver. Uses no Azure SDK at all — the app just calls the file system, and three replicas mount the same share ReadWriteMany.

View on GitHub →AKS: Vacation Planner with App Configuration (.NET)

The vacation-planner app on AKS with every setting in an App Configuration store. The App Configuration Kubernetes Provider extension reads the store with Entra Workload ID and materialises a ConfigMap and a Secret, so the app itself carries no Azure SDK dependency and no credential of its own.

View on GitHub →Container Instances with Blob Storage and Key Vault
CI verified
Containerised Flask app on Azure Container Instances that pulls its image from Container Registry and reads a secret from Key Vault, with activity data in Blob Storage.
View on GitHub →Event Hubs Capture with Event Grid and Functions
CI verifiedCold-chain monitoring pipeline where Azure announces when a batch is ready instead of code polling for it: Capture archives telemetry to Blob Storage as Avro, Event Grid raises CaptureFileCreated, and a Function App aggregates each archive into a curated hub.
View on GitHub →Function App behind API Management
CI verifiedPython Function App published through an API Management gateway. Only the gateway holds the shared secret the function requires, so clients authenticate with a subscription key while the gateway enforces a rate limit, answers CORS preflights and injects the secret on every backend call.
View on GitHub →Function App behind Azure Front Door
CI verifiedTwo Function Apps serving a catalog API behind Azure Front Door Standard, one as the priority origin and one as a standby checked by health probes. Covers route specificity, caching and purge, and a rule set that stamps headers, rewrites a path prefix and redirects a retired path at the edge.
View on GitHub →Function App with Managed Identity
CI verified
Function App that reads and writes Blob Storage using either a system-assigned or a user-assigned managed identity, with Entra ID emulated locally.
View on GitHub →Function App with Service Bus over Private Endpoints
CI verified
Isolated-worker .NET Function App exchanging Service Bus queue messages entirely over private endpoints, with a user-assigned identity, four private DNS zones, a NAT gateway and Log Analytics.
View on GitHub →Function App with Storage Triggers and Bindings
CI verified
Gaming scoreboard built on blob, queue and table triggers and bindings together in a single .NET Function App.
View on GitHub →Guestbook on Azure Container Apps
CI verifiedContainerised Flask guestbook running on Azure Container Apps behind the managed environment's HTTP ingress, pulling its image from Container Registry and persisting entries as a JSON blob in Blob Storage.
View on GitHub →Real-time fraud detection with Event Hubs
CI verifiedPayment events from three kinds of producer stream into Event Hubs, a Functions processor scores them for fraud in real time, alerts flow onto a second hub, and Event Hubs Capture archives every event to a data lake without any code.
View on GitHub →Service Bus with Spring Boot
CI verifiedSpring Boot application using the Spring Cloud Azure Stream Binder to send and receive Service Bus messages. Java hosting is not emulated, so the app runs on the host against the emulated namespace.
